The Importance of Rebooting
Okay, you're on the Internet, surfing away.  You go over and check out your Hotmail account then, you're off for a little Yahoo searching for a while.  You decide you want to check your Acelink mail first, so you hit your trusty Outlook Express button and up comes your email program.  Connecting...Verifying Password...downloading email.  Next thing you know, BANG! Norton Antivirus brings up a window that says it has caught a nasty little virus trying to infect your system - No problem, delete it!

Now you're waiting for your search results to come up with Yahoo when you decide you want to hear some music. Fire up the old Windows Media Player and off you go with some MP3's you just made with MP3 Maker software - oh ya, that reminds you, forgot to close that program - click - it's closed. Back to reading mail...What's this? Server error? You hit the send/receive button again...Server error! Those darn guys at Acelink have messed something up and my email doesn't work!!!

Sound familiar?  Sometimes, when your computer is running several different programs, surfing the internet, and scanning for viruses, things get a little congested. RAM gets filled up and then your machine has to use the hard drive to store some of the tasks it is performing. When this happens, sometimes programs freeze up or stop working for a time. Norton Antivirus is one of these programs that frequently stop when a computer gets 'overloaded' with tasks. By default, Norton (and most other antivirus programs) set themselves up to scan each email that goes out or into your computer so, if the program stops working; guess what? Right, no more emails.

What do I do?
The first thing you should do when you encounter ANY problem whether with Norton Antivirus or not, is to save any work you have open (word documents or graphics programs) and reboot your computer. This will clear the RAM and reset the programs running on your computer and will, almost always, fix little glitches and problems when you're doing several things at once on your computer.

If you have rebooted your computer and the problem persists, it is time now to seek further assistance. Acelink Communications offers free tech support for issues related to internet and mail access through us. Keep in mind: you are not required to reboot your computer before you call Acelink for customer support but it is, most likely, the first thing we will ask you to do!
