Bet you're using one now. For the most part, you'll never have to buy a Browser anymore. Of course they are sold with documentation if you like to have that sort of stuff handy. I generally just upgrade my Netscape online. It always seems like the next release is only a few months away. Did you know about Mosaic? Mosaic was actually "the first browser" developed in the United States." Not the first browser, but it was developed here in the USA.
The two major browsers today are Netscape and Internet Explorer. You can debate the pros and cons of these two browsers all you want. In fact there are websites that do just that. Here's just one thought for you. Mind you, this is just my own opinion (like you can't figure that out), the only virus I received via email came from a friend who was using Internet Explorer. Thank goodness I practice safe surfing. Be sure you have up to date virus protection! I use Command Systems Software's Antivirus software. No data before it's scanned is my motto. If there's a door, someone or something will try to get in.
Now that you have a browser (you can't really buy a computer today without at least one browser pre-installed) you will need "plug ins" to extend the browser's capability on the net. Sure, that's easy for me to say. After all, I've got a few years under my belt already with this computer stuff. How hard could it be?
